The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.

Gandhi Mahavidyalaya was sanctioned with an infantry with a strength of 40 Cadets (Senior Division) under the supervision and control of 9(0) BN. NCC Rourkela. The Unit is headed by. Ltn. Pratap Kumar Mahalik, CTO.

Objectives of NCC:
  • Character Development: NCC encourages cadets to develop qualities like leadership, teamwork, and discipline through various training programs.
  • Nation Building: By imparting values of patriotism, civic responsibility, and social service, the NCC aims to build a strong and united nation.
  • Physical Fitness: Regular drills, parades, and physical activities are part of the training to improve the fitness levels of the cadets.
  • Leadership Skills: Through leadership camps and activities, the cadets are groomed to take on roles of responsibility in both personal and professional life.
  • Adventure and Fun: The NCC organizes activities like trekking, rock climbing, and flying, providing cadets with exposure to adventurous experiences.
NCC Activities:
  • Drill and Parade: Regular drills and parades help cadets develop discipline, coordination, and leadership skills.
  • Camps: NCC organizes various camps like Annual Training Camps (ATC), Thal Sainik Camp (TSC), National Integration Camps (NIC), and leadership camps for the development of cadets.
  • Community Service: The cadets participate in social service activities, including blood donation drives, tree planting, Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, disaster relief work, and awareness campaigns on health and hygiene.
  • Republic Day Camp (RDC): This is one of the most prestigious events, where selected cadets from across the country gather in New Delhi to participate in the Republic Day celebrations and various cultural and sports events.
Achievements:

Many former NCC cadets have gone on to serve in the Indian Armed Forces, while others have excelled in various fields of life.

  2. JUO Jay Kudada in CISF
  3. Jhadeswar Kisan in Odisha Police
  4. Cadet Tanmay Bindhani has participated in Mavalankar Sports Shooting Championship in 2022.
  5. In RDC- SUO Gokulananda Karna and  Cadet Ashutosh Mohanat has participated in the year 2023, Bonita Oram in 2024.
  6. JUO Sukant Sunani and Bishal Sahoo participated in TSC.
  7. Best Cadet Award from odisha Dte received by our cadet Gokulananda Karna
  8. JUO Somay Soren has got silver medal in Inter directorate Sports Shooting Competition.
Conclusion:

The NCC has a profound impact on the personal growth of young individuals, preparing them for leadership roles and fostering a deep sense of responsibility towards society and the nation. It continues to be an important institution in India, building a strong foundation for future generations to become responsible and patriotic citizens.
