Self-defence is a set of awareness, assertiveness, verbal confrontation skills, safety strategies, and physical techniques that enable someone to successfully escape, resist, and survive violent attacks. A good self-defence course provides psychological awareness and verbal skills, not just physical training. Government of Odisha took a decision in the year 2013 that self-defense training programme should be started in every college of Odisha as a part of strengthening programme for women students so that they will be able to defend themselves from a danger to their lives, to their property or to their virginity. Our college is no exception. In course of past years, a good number of women students have been trained.
